biography

I am a documentary photographer based in Bristol UK with a wide range of experiences and approaches as you will see from my web site. I studied architecture in Birmingham in the 1960s and worked in the  housing and community sector in the UK.

Commissioned projects include work for architects, artists and musicians, magazines and horticultural publishers as well as for the community sector. Within the galleries you will see a range of personal documentary projects which I am continually developing drawing on my experiences of different landscapes and cultures as well as my knowledge of and affection for my adopted home, Bristol. If you look at the photodiary above you will also see regularly updated examples from another project in which I take a daily photograph of a person, scene or object which catches my attention.

One of my other passions is for music and, although I enjoy a wide range of styles and periods, I play baroque music on the flute with other musicians including the Bristol based trio ‘Gone with the Wind’.

I am involved in a number of organisations in the not-for-profit sector in Bristol and chair the Addiction Recovery Agency providing treatment and support for people who experience addiction.

I welcome  enquiries from prospective clients and am always interested to hear from other  artists and photographers who have ideas for collaboration or who share my passions.
